When we moved into our home 9 years ago, we became the owners of a stove that was about 20 years old. I love to cook so an upgrade was needed asap. I really loved the look of the ceramic top stoves. We shopped around for months and I finally decided on the Frigidaire self-cleaning electric range. At $599.99 if fell into the moderate price range. I was very excited when it arrived. Unfortunately the happiness was short lived.

First of all this stove is an absolute nightmare to clean. Everything and everything you cook on it makes a total mess of the stove top, even boiling water! You have to have a special cleaner on hand to be used with a special scratch free sponge. Nothing just wipes right off this surface. I often have to let the cleaner sit overnight and then literally scrub it the next morning. And still that doesn't always completely clean it! I have a specially designed plastic scraper that I use for the 'hard to get off' spots. I use that tool more than I would like to.

The burners also do not provide consistent heat. One of my main, large burners that I use most often, gives off extremely high heat even when set on simmer. It is a very frustrating stove to use.

The works relatively well. I have no complaints with the heat & cooking ability. But again, even after running the self-cleaning option, it is often still dirty.

I have to say that the Frigidaire self-cleaning electric range was a huge disappointment and I am actually looking forward to the day when it finally gives out and I can replace it.
