Justin Timberlake's FutureSex/LoveSounds -- I'm not too old to give this a listen, right?

The album scored at least five top hits, including the addictive SexyBack and all-telling What Goes Around (Comes Around). My Love was hailed in 2006 as one of the best songs of the year.

Considering a good chunk of this material will undoubtedly appear on some JT Greatest Hits album sometime in the future, how about the rest of this album? In short: I found it to be hit and miss.

For example, track 7, "Chop Me Up" sounds mighty crunk for a white boy. This is Timbaland's influence, but these beats are just too ghetto rap crap to me. Please stick to the hot beats like "Way I Are, " Timbo.

"Damn Girl" (track 8) is a so-so effort with a big beat sound.

It's almost like there is an interlude of crap bookended by the sweet soulful sound of Timberlake.

I can understand why this is a hit record -- look at the roster of hits: SexyBack, My Love, LoveStoned, Summer Love, What Goes Around -- I mean that's five hits right there that made the charts. I just am not sure if I like the whole album, and that prevents me from recommending it versus just picking up these hits from the Internet and putting them on an MP3 mix with other artists. Those two crunk beats get to me, because it disturbs the flow too much for my taste.

Overall, I'm iffy. I wouldn't reject it if I got it for Christmas (hint, hint), but I can't see myself buying it myself. I'd opt for many other albums higher up on my list over this. Sorry man. But thanks for bringing sexy back. Who knew where it went? Maybe the Gray Kid stole it on a Paxil binge (but that's another topic entirely)
