Although I’m a guy, I am pretty obsessed with my hair. I like to fix it up in a variety of different ways. Some days I wear it down, sometimes spiked, sometimes slicked to the side, you get the idea. It is quite interesting how creative one can get with only a few hair products and... hair! One day as I was waiting for my girlfriend to finish getting her hair done at our local mall, I came across this funny round “pod” of hair gel called Garnier Fructics Surf Hair. It was more like a putty then a gel. I bought it for just $3.50 and for the next week it was all I ever used on my hair. After experimenting with the product, I came up with a few ways to best utilize it:

A. Wet n wild n messy: This look gives off the impression that you’ve recently been wrestling with an alligator underwater. It is an awesome hairstyle to wear to parties, social events, and just to hang out with your buddies. Not recommended for a professional look. The best way to pull this look off is to apply the “Surf Hair” product right after you hop out of the shower. It is important that your hair is still damp but not dripping wet when you apply “Surf Hair”. Rub a dime size amount or more according to the amount of hair you have and just go crazy. Air dry.

B. “Just got out of bed and lovin it”: This style is similar to Wet n wild n messy except for the fact that it looks more wind swept and dry. This one is a favorite of mine and I wear it for school and every day life. I usually apply “Surf Hair” after I towel dry my hair a few times, right at that point where my hair is almost dry but not quite. Blow dry for best results.

C. Naturally spiked look: You must have shorter hair for this one because the hold isn’t the strongest with this gel. Make sure you’re hair is completely dry before attempting this style. Air dry for best results. (Credit here goes to my brother who came up with this one).

In my “experiments” (on myself), Garnier Fructis Surf Hair does not work well for spiking long hair, the wet combed look, or the super dry hold look. There are other products that do good in these areas but the hairstyles described in A, B, and C are easily obtained with this hair product.

The fragrance is not overpowering at all, it smells like a variant of any other hair gel out there.

Disclaimer: I have not tested this product on animals. I doubt my Golden Retriever would be very interested either.
