This children's book is by Julie Haydon. I bought this book for my granddaughter. She loves books that are colorful and has sound along with a great story.
The story is about a grasshopper named Gavin. He's going to a fancy dress up party. He has a special costume that he wants to wear. He thinks that when he puts it on that no one will recognize him. He is very excited and he chirps with excitement.
I like that there is a clue for the little children to push the chirping button throughout the story. It is indicated by a grasshopper's face. When you see that face, have them push the button to make the chirping noise of the grasshopper.
Glavin puts on his special outfit. It's a penquin costume and he is hoping to win a prize for it! He sees some of his friends at the party. They never realize it is Glavin until he chirps. He thinks to himself that his costume is no good because everyone guesses who he is. One of the party guests tells him that the only reason they knew it was him was because of his chirping.
He gets ready for the costume competition but this time he doesn't chirp. He wins the prize for Best Penguin. His friends clap and he chirps with excitement again!
This is such a cute and colorful story book for children. I highly recommend it!
