I had trouble finding reviews of cordless phones in this price range, so I finally bought this General Electric 5.8GHz phone impulsively with fingers crossed. I have been completely happy with it for almost a year now. You can't get a better phone for this price.

The sound quality is perfect. I had to adjust the channel the first day, but after that there's been no static or weird disembodied voices like I've had on my other cordless phones.

I can take this phone outside my house and a good ways down the block before it starts to cut out.

The battery life is good, but most importantly, it charges fast. If I leave it off the charger so long the battery dies, it's usually only a matter of a few minutes charging before I can use it again. (Not so with the phone this one replaced!) In the year I've had it, I've only run the battery down twice, so it's not something that is really even an issue.

The phone also comes with a Caller ID Display (which I haven't used), and a 40 name and number memory which is fairly easy to set up. The documentation on the phone is thorough and helpful if you have any problems programming it.

The only complaint I have is that the ring tones are all a bit shrill and annoying, but this does not detract from the overall stellar performance of this 5.8GHz phone. I recommend it if you're looking for a cheap cordless that works like a much more expensive one.
