The GE Nautilus dishwasher is a very effective appliance for your kitchen. It's very good features:
1. The dishwasher has a rotating water sprinkler at the top of the dishwasher. This feature is critical for good cleaning of kitchen items. It allows for a bit more flexibility in what you can place in the bottom basket because you don't have to worry about blocking the water spray to the top basket.
2. The distance between the two baskets is nice and high. Large platters and roasting pans are easily accommodated.
3. The dishwasher has 6 settings and 5 features. You can choose from heavy scrubbing to light washing. In addition, the features allow you to choose heated drying (or not, if you want to save energy) and it has a plate warming function. You can also delay starting so as to start when no one is home so as not to use hot water simultaneously. It also grinds up food particles before sending them down the drain. The front console is sleek looking and is easy to understand and operate.
4. If you have children in the house, the locking feature is very convenient to keep them from pressing the buttons on the console.
It's drawbacks are few. First of all, the heated drying does leave the cups a bit wet, and I have to dry them completely by hand. Secondly, and this has really nothing to do with the functioning of the dishwasher, but stainless steel is difficult to maintain. Every fingerprint, every drip, every drop of dried water is noticeable on the front. I don't think I will pick stainless steel for any other major appliance as long as there are small children in the house.
The dishwasher is a convenint, effective machine, and it serves its purpose well in my kitchen. It is not a luxury machine, but it is quiet, good-looking, and it really cleans the dishes well. Highly recommended.
