One of my dachshunds, Bosco, developed a hive-like allergic reaction to something he came in contact with, we aren't certain what. My vet suspects dryer sheets that I was using, but I am sceptical because the sheets are for sensitive skin and have no dyes or perfumes.
Anyway, little Bosco was itching and breaking out in welts, so the vet put him on an antibiotic and gave us Gentocin Topical Spray to use on his neck. The little guy had developed an infection in his neck area from the allergic reaction and from scratching so much. It was crusty and really looked awful. The vet shaved his neck so that the spray would be more effective, and twice a day for about ten days we had to spray his neck.
Well, I must say that I was really impressed with how well this spray worked in clearing up Bosco's neck area. All of the crustiness has vanished and his neck looks completely normal again. I was afraid there would be scarring, but there doesn't seem to be any residual marks from the infection.
I don't know how much the spray actually cost because it was bundled in with an injection that Bosco also had to get. It worked in clearing up his neck area, and that's what I was really concerned about.
Gentocin spray contains Gentamicin Sulfate with Betamethasone Valerate. It was very effective in helping little Bosco, and I was happy to see that the little guy's neck is completely back to normal. Now I just wish I knew for certain what caused the allergic reaction!!!
