Geometry Wars: Galaxies for the Nintendo DS is a arcade shooter game. The game can be most compared to classics such as Robotron 2084 and Smash TV. You're set in a small grid and you have to shoot up as many spaceships as you can until you run out of all your lives. In order to accomplish this, you have your regular gun with unlimited ammo, which can shoot in any direction, and a small number of smart bombs that can kill everything on the screen. This new version of Geometry Wars plays exactly like the original version, which can be found on the PC and the Xbox 360 (And in this version, as a separate game mode), but with more bells and whistles. Unlike in the original, here you have over 30 different grids (or levels) that you can play on, new type of enemies, new weapon upgrades, game modes, and bonuses.

This game is a whole lot of fun. The best thing about it is that it can be played in short-burst sessions and for extended periods of time. You can either try to beat your own score, beat other players' using the Nintendo Wi-Fi, or just complete different sets of levels. I'm a big fan of arcade shooters, so this game has a special place in my gaming library. If I would have to nitpick, I would say that the game runs a tad bit slow, especially compared to the original and the Wii version of this same game. But really, this is just nitpicking. Either way, if you like casual games or you're just a fan of arcade shooters, go and pick up this game. It's worth it, trust me!
