I recently purchased The Message Audio Bible on CD. It's the New Testament in contemporary language, and it's very enjoyable. It contains 20 CDs, for a total of 20 hours of listening. It came in a nice black canvas zipper case.

Eugene Peterson, a translator and an editor, felt that many people were not understanding the Bible in King James English, or some of the other translations. So he created a paraphrase in everyday language, that anyone could easily understand. He was a pastor for over 30 years, and is Professor Emeritus of Spiritual Theology, at Regent College, in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Sometimes when I'm trying to fall asleep at night, I'll listen to The Message. I find it easier to absorb when my mind is tired. More than 6 million people have enjoyed The Message. If you know someone who may be struggling with understanding the Bible, this may be just the perfect gift for them. You may also get The Message Bible in regular book form. Since it is a paraphrase, you will always want to compare it with a translation of the Bible, to get the most complete context and meaning.

It usually retails for $49.99, but I got it on Ebay for $24.95 plus shipping! What a great deal! I know that I will enjoy these CDs for a long while.
