Who can live without food storage containers? Not me! But, I was getting pretty tired of trying to organize all the various lids that go with those handy containers. Then I saw a lid holder at Bed Bath & Beyond. I waited a few weeks before actually purchasing it. I just wasn't sure if it was one of those things that seem like a good idea until you actually use it in your kitchen. Now that I bought it, I am in a way glad I did, but then, again, I am not sure this container is the right choice for me.

This containers holds quite a few lids, but not all the lids in this house, so I feel this lid organizer would work well for a single person or a couple, or just perhaps someone who does not use many food storage containers, thus, has fewer lids to store. The problem is, what do you do with the rest of your lids? I do not want to have to buy several of these units to store my lids. This product takes up enough space as it is. Because the lids stand upright, the cabinet space must be high enough to accomodate it.

I think the solution for me is to use this product for larger lids and maybe find a plastic container to keep all the smaller lids at bay. I suppose if you have plenty of cabinets, the lid problem might not make you want to flip your lid, but I do not have a whole lot of free cabinet space just now. Another solution would be to store excess lids with their container, but that is not feasible if you are short on cabinet space.

This product is made of heavy plastic coating, which should stand up well. It can be mounted (hardware included) or used free standing, which is what I do. This item measures a bit over 11 x 4 x 5 and is pretty sturdy, not lightweight, which is good.

This lid holder is a nifty item, though, I can't deny that. It is nice to see many of my lids in one spot, but I would not tell you to run out and buy one of these lid holders. It's kind of in the way in my cabinet, but so were the lids! My parents used to have a "lid drawer." I think maybe that's the way to go. Now if only I had a spare drawer.
