Ghosts and Haunts of the Civil War, Authentic Accounts of the Strange and Unexplained is a fantastic collection of strange stories that you will not find in your college history textbook. Coleman has put together a great set of Civil War ghost stories covering haunted battlefields, phantom soldiers in hotels, ghosts of executed abolitionists and more. There are 36 stories in all. Many areas are rich with phantom lore including Vicksburg, MS and Gettysburg.
At the end there are appendices that include a list of civil war ghost tours throughout the country and a list of haunted hotels that are still in operation. We plan to visit some of the hotels on the list. Many sound like very charming places...old buildings with character and ghosts...sounds really exciting. Many battlefields and museums exist, but I think haunted hotels and ghost stories can really add a fun dynamic to a trip or vacation. You can get it as a Barnes and Noble Bargain Book for just a few bucks.
