Talk Show is the third album from the Go-Go's. The disc is more polished-sounding their previous albums and has a bit more of a new wave sound to some of the songs. While I find it to be a more satisfying album than Vacation, it remains a somewhat disappointing album.
The album produced the hit song, Head Over Heals. While I absolutely love the song I find it missing the sense of spontaneity and fun that permeated a lot of the bands earlier songs.
The majority of the songs here are mid-tempo numbers. Some of the highlights include Yes or No, Beneath the Blue Sky, and Turn to You.
I think that this album had potential to be a lot better than it is. The majority of the songs that are simply so-so, really had the potential to be much more. It just sounds like the band isn't really into playing the songs. I don't know whether this is due to their attitude at the time (they broke up shortly after the album was released), the producer, or that this was the sound they were going for. Regardless, it is a step up from their last album. Still, I would just stick with the greatest hits disc unless you are a big fan of the group.
