Children learn words and sentences easily they were taught in an entertaining way. They learn things in that way better than the way in which we teach them. Watching television and in particular watching any video which teaches them anything alongside giving them entertainment is the best way to make children learn the first words. I thought the same thing and bought this DVD - Wordsworth:first words around the house six months ago.

My daughter was an year old then and I bought this video as it is said that it is suitable for kids of 12 months and above. But it is not really suitable for such small kids and it has so many tough words and sentences for kids that it is literally impossible for an year old to say those words and sentences. It has some sentences like 'nice to see you' and some words like refrigerator and few more which are really difficult for small kids to say. But the signs shown are really good and are really suitable for young kids, kids of one year age.

As far as the content in the DVD is concerned, it teaches 25 words related to each room in the house like 25 words for the things in bed room and 25 words in kitchen and so on. It teaches some sentences in sign language too. The content of the video is of very high quality and though it is not suitable for kids of 12 months, it is rich in content. The signs are really very good and are easy to understand and to communicate. The quality of the video is very good and the special effects are too fine. The running time of the video is just around 30 minutes and it is really convenient for parents as the kids can watch it completely in a single go.

Now my daughter is 18 months old and she is slowly catching up with the words and phrases in the video. So my conclusion is - Basically it is a nice DVD but is not really suitable and not appropriate for the kids of the age mentioned on the cover.
