Before I'm married, I start to love to make cookies and cakes. My mother is not the type who likes to make cookies and cakes, therefore I learned it from cooking books and from my cousin who passed away nine years ago (she was a great cooking teacher, indeed!). I remember buying this book at a local bookstore and it was on a big sale. It's called, 'Cakes and Biscuits 1'. The book actually comes in series, but there were only a few of them available on the sale, and this one is the first of the series. It's published by Grasindo (Gramedia Widiasarana Indonesia) and contains about 62 pages, all in color. What I like about this book is that it comes in two languages: Indonesia and English. Every recipe comes with a picture, which I think is good because this way we can see the actual cake. The pictures are very clear and taken perfectly so they are very helpful in supporting the recipe. This book also describes about the utensils we are going to need, basic ingredients, and basic recipes for 20cm chiffon cake, pie pastry, and tart pastry. All of these basic knowledge also comes with pictures. Here are the recipes in this book:

1. Chiffon Fruity Cake

2. Sweet Raisins Muffins

3. Chicken Pie

4. Little Shell Cakes

5. Oatmeal Raisin Biscuits

6. Deep-Fried Ball Cakes

7. Raisin Swiss Roll

8. Potato Chips

9. Crispy Strawberry Biscuits

10. Apple Pie

11. Peanut Butter Biscuits

12. Two-Layered Rice Cakes

13. Groundnut Biscuits

14. Flowery Swiss Roll

15. Raisin Pie

16. Hazelnut and Chocolate Cookies

17. Peach Cake

18. Ginger and Banana Cookies

19. Almond Cream Cookies

20. Chocolate Chip Almond Biscuits

21. Potato Cheese Cake

22. Orange Cheese Tart

23. Sugar-Coated Doughnut

24. Caramel Pudding

25. Sweet Crispy Biscuits

26.Orange Chiffon Cake

Sounds yummy, right? :) Well, so far I have made Potato Chips, Hazelnut and Chocolate Cookies, Caramel Pudding, Peanut Butter Biscuits, and Sweet Raisin Pie. By far my favorite is Peanut Butter Biscuits. My hubby actually doesn't like sweet taste in cakes and cookies much, and he prefers salty one. So I plan to make Chicken Pie and Potato Cheese Cake. Overall, this book is great for beginners.
