I usually like to use lotions that are perfum free because I would rather choose my fragrance with other products. But when I saw the Vickey & Clarke Natural Apothecary Ginger & Clementine Body Lotion on sale at my local CVS, I decided to try it because I prefer natural products and it didn't seem like the lotion had much of a scent. Just from smelling the contents in the store, it didn't seem like the lotion had much of a scent, but when I put it on there was a scent that really cannot be described.
The scent is not bad, and it has not stopped me from using the lotion. The lotion itself is very good, it is super moisturizing, its not at all greasy either. I have been using the lotion for a couple weeks now and I have noticed a definite improvement in my skin. I have always had a problem with keeping my skin from getting too dry, even in the summer, and this is the first time I have used a new lotion for so short a time and not had dry skin popping up all over the place. It has even been great for my elbows which are always ashy no matter how much lotion I slather on them.
The scent of the Ginger & Clementine Body Lotion is does not smell like either of those two ingredients that are listed in the name. It didn't really smell like the other recognizeable ingredients that are on the back of the label either, like lavender. Instead it kind of has a cool floral smell, that doesn't quite smell like any flower, but has a bite to it-- almost citrus, but not. it is the hardest thing to describe. It is not bad, but it is different, and it clashes with other scents, so I do not like to use the lotion when I am going to be wearing anything else, especially since the scent is long lasting like the lotion.
Otherwise, this is a great natural lotion with ingredients that are all good for your skin. I also have to point out that the packaging is very attractive and different than other lotion bottles. It almost has a French pharmacy look to it and I actually keep it out on a shelf in my bathroom instead of hiding it away like I would a vaseline bottle of lotion.
