I purchased these tires in the 205/55-16 flavor for my wife's Volkswagen Jetta shortly after purchasing the car with a set already installed. The ones on the car already were wearing well for a winter tire, so I decided I'd give them a try again. One can expect that these aren't super car tires, they are soft and have deep tread, so they aren't meant to be a performance summer tire. That said, they run rather quiet untill they near the end of their life and wear expectionally evenly for a winter tire. We ran this set of tires for a little over 42 thousand miles, YEAR ROUND and they are about 1/32" from the wear indicators...so they're pretty much worn out. Pretty impressive for a winter tire used all year. With this winter just starting to kick in, they still perform better than the new all season tires on another of our vehicles, but we ran over a peice of scrap metal and tore a hole in one of the tires, so they're being replaced. Unfortunately for us, these tires are out of stock right now (as are most snow tires now) so I have to try something different again. I just hope the next tire works as well as these Mastercraft tires. The only place I think they could improve is deep wet slush, but with a light vehicle, it's hard to perform well in that area. Wet, icy, packed or loose snow, this car felt safe no matter what.
I am immensly impressed with these tires and wouldn't hesitate for one minute to recommend them to anyone or buy them again.
I'll add a bit of information to help anyone with any tires. Maintain proper pressure and keep them rotated often. I rotate all of our tires every 5-6 thousand miles. That variance is because I do it at every oil change on the vehicles that go 5k between changes and at every other oil change on the ones that go 3k between. Get in a habit that is easy to stick to and you'll be more apt to take care of things.
