Guitar Hero 2 for the PS2 is the second in the Guitar Hero franchise, and I feel that it is the best of the series so far. The game came out in 2005 and is highly entertaining. It has a guitar controller that has 5 fret buttons on it as well as a button where the string would typically be strummed. On the televison screen you see the guitar player you selected as your avatar, and then the song starts. Along the bottom of the screen, there is a bar that has 5 lines that match up to the color and order of the fret buttons on the neck of the guitar, and circles appear on them when you need to depress the fret and stru the note to make sure it comes out ok. The longer you go without errors, the higher you score becomes. After 10 consecutive notes, your multiplier goes up to 2x for each correct note. after 20 correct notes, you get a 3x, and after 30 you get 4x, but thats as high as it goes without assistance from star power. Star power is achieved by getting certain notes correct, and if you hit at least two star power phrases, you can "unleash" the star power, which doubles one's score multiplier. I think this is one of the best game franchises that came out in a long time, mainly because it was such a new concept. I also like all of the music that was chosen for the game. It is a perfect blend of classic rock, alternative music from the early to mid 90's, and modern soon-to-be classics.
