Where do I start?

Guitar Hero is one of the most popular console games of our time. Guitar Hero 2 brought the fun and excitment to more than just Playstation 2 consolers. It spawned it revolution and evolution of gaming.

Guitar Hero 3, which is slated to be released in stores in the next week is the 3rd installment of this series, though don't get it wrong. Its no longer made by Harmonix. The new game follows much of the same style of play as the previous titles, but adds a few interesting twists. Boss battles, this is probably the most interesting thing in the game and it is challenging, more so than most of the songs themselves. It would seem the use of 2 and 3 note cords has flooded this new game making it less challenging and there for lacks alot of replay value. The song selection, while large hasn't been picked very well. After playing through the career mode on Hard it became pretty obvious that each tier basically had 1 good song that was fun to play. Scrolling through the bonus (purchaseable via ingame money) track I realized that all of them were by unknock bands, at least to me, and previewing them left me with a bitter taste in my mouth and wondering "Where the hell is Thunderhorse when you need it."

All around the game will hold true to what many gamers expect to see from the series, I think that its downfall will be in the initial selection of songs and bonus songs. Lets pray that they get downloadable content going as soon as possible and don't force players into buying packs of 3 songs for 6 dollars when only 1 of the songs is good.
