We recently bought some games to play at Grandma and Grandpa's house when the whole family gets together. With all of the summer stuff being on clearance we thought it was the perfect time. One lawn game we picked up was the Halex Rocket Toss. Originally priced at $4.99, we got this for only $2.50. It was very inexpensive so we figured we had nothing to lose.
The Rocket Toss is basically a version of the classic lawn game jarts. It comes with four rockets for tossing and two plastic rings which are layed on the ground and used as targets. The rockets are plastic and each has a circular rubber head. There is virtually no way anyone could get injured with these, unlike the old metal jarts game. The object is to stand at a distance and toss the rockets into the targets. The person who lands their rocket in the circle scores a point. To make things easier or harder you can vary the distance you toss from and also score the rockets that land the closest rather than simply end up in the circle. This is all a matter of personal preference.
The only tricky part to this game is that the rockets have a rubber tip and bounce a little. This means a direct hit right to the circle may end up outside of it after the bounce. This adds a little bit of skill and strategy to the game. Also, I would like to have more than just two rockets each to throw but as these games were so cheap you might want to buy two just to have the extra rockets for throwing.
Overall this is a fairly fun game and adults and children alike can play. They are very affordable, especially on clearance. The rockets held up fine and there were no concerns with anyone getting hurt in any way. It also allows you to make the game harder or easier based on your personal preferences of scoring and distance. If you find some of these on sale they would be good for up at the cabin or any outdoor family get togethers.
