I had been wanting to see this film for quite awhile and bought it on DVD earlier this year. The plot basically revolved around a woman (played by Demi Moore) whose life as a mystery writer is turned upside down when her young son drowns. She decides that she needs to find herself again and ends up living in a cottage near a fishing village. What she doesn't realize is that she will soon be involved in a strange mystery of murder which leaves her thinking, could this be real or am I imagining it?

First off I desperately wanted to see this film because the premise sounded interesting. I was surprised that Demi Moore was a star in this film because she had dropped out of acting for a number of years. About halfway through the film, you come to the conclusion that it must be something of the supernatural that is going on. Then the film pulls you in a completely different direction and you find out, that something far more sinister is going on behind the scenes. I never saw it coming at all! This was completely refreshing. The supernatural aspect throws you off track. I didn't have a clue that her best friend and husband were involved. The acting by Demi was fantastic. I have always thought she was a great actress and this film shows that she's still got it. Hans Matheson who played her love interest was absolutely captivating. I wasn't familiar with his work but I look forward to seeing him more in the future.

The only complaint I have is with the DVD itself. Why no extras??! Why couldn't they have put some behind the scenes or interviews with the cast?? On the DVD, there was scene selections, subtitles and then previews which included one of "Half Light" which I watched before the film and wish I hadn't! The people that edited the preview obviously didn't know what they were doing because they revealed a spoiler in it! I watched it and was disappointed that I knew a crucial part of the plot which was supposed to be a revealed half way through the film. I highly recommend this DVD for the film itself if you love a good spooky tale but not for the extras because you won't get any.
