My husband and I are big fans of Tetris. Unfortunately our old Nintendo game system doesn't work very well any longer and we were having a hard time playing one of our favorite games. While I was shopping at Target, I noticed the hand held Big Screen Tetris. I just had to buy it and I'm glad I did.

It is very comparable to the original video game. One of the differences is that the hand held is in black and white, not color. The only other difference I noticed from the original is that the game doesn't seem to speed up past level 9. It stays on the same pace from level 9 to level 99.

There are three game modes of play. The first mode is Classic Tetris and is played just like the original game. The second mode is Speed Tetris and your objective is to score as many points/lines as possible within a specific time period. The third mode is Ultra Tetris in which you attempt to clear a certain number of lines within the shortest period of time. In each mode, you can start from level 0 (the slowest) to level 9 (the fastest). The game provides hours of fun.

The game has the option of turning the sound on or off - which makes it easy to play when in a public place and you don't want to disturb others. The game doesn't have an on/off switch but after one minute of inactivity it will go into sleep mode. You can even pause your game and resume it hours or days later. You simply take it out of sleep mode by hitting the Start button. The game takes three AAA batteries and doesn't seem to drain them fast.

I would recommend this hand held Tetris game to any Tetris fan. It has saved my sanity when riding the train to work or waiting in a doctor's office. My husband even played it while I was in early labor. In fact, he got his highest score ever during my labor and hospital stay.
