Hands of Jesus by Spencer Williams

This good quality poster shows the hands of Jesus holding some seeds, while a group of small birds are lighting and hovering around to eat from his hands. I purchased this as a gift for a friend, and she treasures it as her favorite wall decoration.

Once in a while, you stumble upon the perfect gift for someone, and the "Hands of Jesus" poster certainly fit that description for a shy and reclusive friend of mine whose primary loves are Jesus and birds. You can only see the middle portion of Christ, in traditional robes, but his hands are held in front of him, with the scene described above.

The original is a painting by Spencer Williams, of Sevierville, Tennessee. He is known for wildlife paintings, including underwater scenes. He also has done a number of paintings including Jesus, and various paintings using Christian symbolism.

Each painting is signed, and includes a Scripture reference. The one on this picture is Matthew 10:31 -

“So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”

The web site describes this picture as “wonderfully uncomplicated. All of us should rest in the Masters hands as these birds do. Did you notice there are seven?” Seven is symbolic of perfection in Christianity.

You can purchase the "Hands of Jesus" in various editions: Open, Limited, and Canvas Giclee.

- The Open Edition- a good quality poster on heavy paper. It came rolled, and I framed it in a poster frame. $25, 13 x19 inches

- The Limited Edition- there is no real information on the web site as to what this means $65, 13 x19 inches

- Canvas Giclee- this is a process where the image is printed on canvas with inkjet technology for a high-quality product $350, 18 x 28 inches.

I received my poster rolled and nicely mailed in a sturdy tube. The poster is perhaps smaller than some posters, but this made it a nice size for framing. Sometimes posters can overwhelm a room.
