Every year I make it a point to get birthday cakes for each of my family members, and anyone who knows me knows that I am not much of a baker so I trust the bakery at Kroger to do this for me.
This paticular cake is a double chocolate, single layer 1/4 sheet cake. It was for my son's 16th birthday so I needed something basic and simple, nothing too "kiddy". I chose this one because it was not girley or childish and it was choclate.
For a family of 5 all we need is the 1/4 sheet cake and we can eat cake for several nights, the cakes from mKroger are always moist and delicious. I personally do not like the food colored frostings, sometimes they tend to be bitter, especially colors like red and black, but thios one was pure chocolate.
The Kroger bakery does carry character cakes, they also have round cakes, cup cakes, 1/4 sheets on up! They have something for everyone litterally, the only cakes that they do not make are wedding cakes.
As far as the price, it is a very fair price and for excellent quality. Another thing I really like from bthe Kroger bakery is it is usually one of two women and they have been their for years and you always see them with their hair pulled up and under a hair net and they wear gloves.
They also have everything you will need from candles and such right at the counter, also you can pre order but I have never been denied a cake on the spot either, so they are very flexible, but that is apt to be different in larger cities.
If you have a Kroger in your area and are need or a cake, give them a try next time, you might just been plesantly surprised.
