After moving back from living in Japan, I knew there were numerous small appliances that I needed to purchase for my kitchen but there was no questioning that the first would be a suitable rice maker. After going to my local Japanese store of my previous house, I came across a Hello Kitty Rice Cooker that was calling my name. Sanrio not only was programmable but is also an everyday Hello Kitty collector’s item!

Unlike cooking on the stove top burner in a pot, a rice maker slowly steams the rice to create the perfect sticky bowl of rice. Plus, cooking in an electric rice maker is easier on the cleanup. For instance, whenever I made rice on the stove, there was not once that I ended up not scorching the bottom of the pan. Not only is the rice cooker cute as a button, but it can make up to around 10 cups of cooked rice and is small enough to fit on a kitchen countertop. It fulfills my Hello Kitty infatuation and fills my husbands’ need for food. It is a perfect solution to both of our needs.

When making the rice, just rinse your rice (any kind) and place in the steel bowl that goes inside the maker. The steel bowl comes along with the rice maker. Turn the pink dial to the “on” position and flip the pink switch. Five to ten minutes later the rice is ready to be placed on the table. Since the rice maker adjusts the cooking time automatically, there is no need for calculations and worrying that the rice will burn if you look away. It is so simple that children can make the rice without supervision!

Additional 2 more features that promote this maker are the delay start up to 10 hours and the “keep warm” function. The delay start is a lifesaver on those busy nights when you just want to return home for the night and have warm rice waiting for you already piping hot. Just set the delay the night before or morning of and the rice will be ready when you need it. Then, if you are late the warm function will remain turned on while keeping the rice warm without drying it out until turned off.
