We took a visit to this small local zoo in Madison, Wisconsin. The nice thing about this zoo is the admission is free.
The zoo is small but very well kept. We were able to see and do everything in about 3 hours. The animals looked to be well cared for, which is always a plus.
At the time we went there didn't seem to be a lot of people. I am not sure if this is always the case or we just went on a light day.
Our family's favorite spot has to have been the Primate area. The Chimpanzees and Orangutans were especially active on the day we went. There was a friendly zoo worker near the area that talked about the Primates and their behavior.
They also have a tropical rainforest area. They are quite a few birds and some turtles here. My son's favorite part though was the rainforest insects, like the Giant Millipedes and Spiders.
We also saw polar bears, seals, the Big Cats, camels, bisons, penguins, rhinos and many other animals.
Although this zoo is small in size, I feel it is a nice place to visit if you have some time while in Madison, Wisconsin.
