I am no stranger to back pain. Several years in the mliitary repairing jet engines while hanging in positions that would make a contortionist cringe has caused considerable amount of strain and stress on my body, namely my lower back. I'm a stretcher, a former basketball junkie, a kid tosser, you name it. I stay in shape. But my goodness, my back has been killing me!
It was so bad my boss was concerned. He stuck me in an office job filing various TPS report-type things and he could see the strain on my face every time I got up. He gave me permission to order ergonomic chairs to add relief.
Long story short, we ordered these Herman Miller chairs because they looked like you could adjust everything to fit whatever position you preferred to sit in, and we were right. The Aeron souped-up model can conform to ANYTHING. You can adjust the arms up and down or tilt in and out to support your typing. The seat can recline or incline at stopping points to keep you from leaning too far back or forward. There is even my favorite adjustment: the lower lumbar support. You can manipulate the Herman Miller Aeron to add more or less pressure on your lower back.
It took me 15 minutes, but I finally souped that chair up to perfect ergonomic support. I was no longer in pain. My boss got more minutes out of me since I didn't have to get up and walk around every hour or so. Well, EVENTUALLY he got more minutes out of me. The first couple of times I was asleep at the desk from the pain relief!
I highly recommend this for your next home computer or office chair.
