Features: (4.7 out of 5)
The zoom on this camera has always amazed me. It photographs clearly enough using max zoom that I have used it as replacement binoculars many times. "Intelligent ISO" mode has often disappointed me, producing washed out images in too-bright lighting, but I continue to use it because it performsmuch better in regular, indooor light. This camera offers three customizable modes- two baby modes and one pet mode- which allow you to enter your child or pet's birthdate, thus recording the age of the subject in each photograph. You also have the option to use either mode without the birthdate, which I am grateful for since I have, personally, found pet mode to be the most useful and versatyle mode, giving me the most satisfactory photographs. I have included two photographs of a recent trip to Arizona. The photographs are identical except for the mode used- one was sunset mode, which brings out reddish hues, and one was scenery mode, which brings out greens and makes colors more vivid.
(3.9 out of 5) This camera does not have a viewfinder, which is one of the very few disappointments I had using it. It is just as heavy as it looks- no more, no less. It's small enough to fit comfortably in a purse, but too large and heavy to fit in a shirt pocket. The batteries are, of course, rechargeable, and last a good long time. I recommend getting a case for this camera, as my LCD screen scratched in the week or so before I purchased one.
Overall: (4.3 out of 5)
As the title suggests, I do highly recommend this camera. While its features leave much to be desired if you are after a manual camera (which this is not), it is relatively customizable and has enough modes (21, plus "intelligent ISO, " "normal, " and "simple" modes) that most people will be able to get the shot they are looking for if they know the camera well enough- and it is very simple to learn. With the right light and the right use of customization, you will be able to get professional looking photographs with this camera.
