My family of 3 recently stayed at the Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront Hotel in Cocoa Beach, Florida. I had reserved a room several months ahead of time, and found their website extremely user friendly, and I loved the photos that they showed of the rooms and hotel. I booked an oceanview room, which was a little more expensive, but since it would be the first time my son saw the ocean, it was worth it to us. We were traveling in December, so we didn't know if we would be able to actually swim, so we at least wanted to be able to show him what it looked like.
We arrived at about 11:00 am, and inquired at the front desk to see if there was a room available- (check-in isn't officially until 3:00pm.) We were met at the beautiful glass doors entrance by a friendly bellman, who showed us around the lobby. The lobby is beautifully decorated, and just has a certain feel of grandeur to it- the ceilings are very high, and there are flat screen tvs hanging on the walls by some seating areas for guests to use. The front desk said that our room was not ready yet, but they said if we would like to walk around a bit, or get something to eat at one of their restaurants, they would take our cell phone numbers, and call us when it was. I mentioned that maybe we would walk down to the beach since it was my son's first time seeing the ocean, and girls at the front desk made a big deal out of that to my son, which was very exciting for him!
The hotel is located on their own private beach, which is very clean and clear, but it is unguarded beaches here. It was actually very warm while we were there, so we waded in the water a little while our room was being readied. The front desk called us in about 45 minutes, and when we went back to the lobby, the bellman and the front desk staff were waiting for my son with a sandpail and shovel for him- they were all excited, asking him what he thought of the beach, and showing him how to build sandcastles with his new tools. My four-year-old was simply beside himself with joy at all the attention he was getting! I walked over to check in, and the girl told me that since it was a special trip for my son, they were upgrading us to a deluxe oceanfront room, free of charge. We were put on the sixth floor, (out of seven), facing directly at the ocean- the view was simply stunning. I don't think we closed our window coverings the entire stay! The first night we were there, there was a wedding held on the beach at sunset, and they had luminaries all through the sand so the guests could see- it was really beautiful to see.
The rooms at the Hilton Cocoa Beach were fantastic- we felt like we were stepping into the tropics when we walked in; there is lots of light-colored wood, mixed with bright reds, oranges, greens and blues- very pretty. The room was immaculate, and showed no signs of wear, even on the carpet. There was no balconies here, which would have been a plus, but the view of the ocean more than made up for that. The beds had microsuede roll pillows which were a classy touch, and fit well with the tropical decor. Much better looking than your typical chain hotel.
I was also very impressed with their bathrooms here; that is one of the first places I usually check out in a hotel to see how clean the tub/shower is- here it looked brand new! There was an amazing granite sinks, with a beautiful wood cabinet, complete with towels rolled up in the open shelves- it looked just like a high end spa! The amenities were Crabtree and Evelyn, which were very nice, and there was a REAL hairdryer supplied, not like those shabby wall-mounted things that most hotels have.
Our experience with this hotel was simply phenomenal; when we vacationed here, we were thinking that this would be the only time we would stay here, and had no intentions of returning again some day; we normally just go directly to Orlando when we visit Florida. After staying here however, we are all very excited to visit again on our next vacation- we loved staying at the Hilton Hotel Cocoa Beach!
