This is a 5.5 amp 15" string trimmer, and it is the first one I've ever worked with. Overall, it gets the job done, but I'm a bit disappointed to learn that it really shouldn't be used along the fence line and around rocks. Those are the areas I was most looking forward to using it (those areas are the most difficult to get to), but it could damage the tool if I happen to hit a rock or the fence (since I can barely carry this thing around, I know I would hit the fence, so I'll stick to using hedge clippers for along the fence/rocks). The trimmer is heavy and awkward to hold onto; I am very slight, and it's difficult for me to use this. Anyway, it does get most of the weeds that are all over the yard (I say most, but it would probably get all of them - without a second or third pass - if the operator were larger and better able to handle this tool). The trimmer is loud, but it is a power tool, so I expected it to be. It's an electric trimmer (plugs into an outdoor extension cord), and it converts to an edger.
