I have always loved cook books, even though I am not much of a cook. My Mother gave me some of hers that I will cherish forever, simply because they were hers. I can still see her looking through it as she tried out new recipes for us to sample.
I was thrilled when she called me earlier this year, asking me to come over. She had ordered this cook book through the mail, it is Homestyle Cooking Made Healthy, by Jeanna Jones.
Jeanne Jones is a columnist and author I had never heard of before, but I have really enjoyed this book! It has 200 classic American favorites made healthier. She has taken the old fashion foods we love, that are normally loaded with fat and calories and has found ways to make them taste just as good but without the bad stuff.
You will find everything from soups and chowders, to dips and sauces, pies, cookies, cakes and cobblers to breads and steaks and so much more! These foods have all been delicious that I have tried so far and the pictures are absolutely beautiful!
If you find this book, I suggest you giving it a look, I am so thankful for this gift from my Mother. One day I hope to hand it down to one of my children.
