Yes, this is a Swiss Miss Review. - - But last year we bought a large container of Polar Express Limited Edition Hot Chocolate - Man, was THAT the best hot chocolate ever! They had plain and with peppermint pieces. We bought the plain. So this year, we had hoped it would be back for the holidays, but nobody seemed to have it, not even Sam's Club, where we got it from.

Well, we love drinking hot chocolate when it gets cold and it's a great substitution to tea or coffee, when you want a hot drink but not those. I went to Wal-Mart and got a 26 ounce canister of Swiss Miss Milk Chocolate Hot Cocoa Mix. Now I know lots of people love Swiss Miss, but after having the Polar Express one, I feel like I downgraded. The cocoa content just isn't high enough for what I feel a hot chocolate should be. I decided to warm up some milk instead of using hot water, hoping the creamy texture and flavor would be better in milk. It was a little better, but not great. I even put an extra scoop of cocoa powder in our mugs, but it didn't seem to do the trick for me.

My husband loves hot chocolate - period. He says it's ok, but he also missed not having the Polar Express one this year. I wish I would have bought more and you can't even find it online.

Swiss Mix does dissolve quickly in either hot water or milk. If you heat the milk in a pan, just make sure to use a non-stick pan and stir until it's heated. Don't keep the milk on too long or it will scortch and burn. Then just pour the hot liquid into your mugs and add 2 rounded tablespoons of powder and stir. This canister yields/serves 26 8 ounce mugs. Our mugs are at least 12 ounces, so we will get less form the container. It's odd how the serving size on the can states is gives 26 servings, however due to settling, there may be fewer servings. So to me, that would mean the contents settling would be compacted more and therefore would give you more chocolate powder than when they test in the test kitchens. Maybe I am thinking wrong on this?

I mean, Swiss Miss isn't a bad hot chocolate, but I just don't find it chocolatey enough. We even tried their Dark Chocolate powder and it was about the same as the Milk Chocolate.

I remember when Swiss Miss came onto the market big time - it was really, really good back then. commercials had that puppet-looking Swiss girl. I feel the product has weakened over the years or maybe my chocolate taste buds have just become picky.

We'll continue to drink this until it's gone, but I would like a little more chocolate. I think I will be on the lookout for a hot chocolate that better suits my chocolate craving.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
