What can I say about the HP DV4? Well it's a mostly great laptop. It has the processing power you want, the ram you desire, the looks (if those matter to you) aren't too bad, and an overall great machine. The display is clear and the webcam isn't too bad. The only gripes i have with this laptop are that 1) having used three different laptops of this same exact model, all of them tend to overheat and shut off, even when they're on a flat surface 2) screws fall out of the laptop 3) touch pad doesn't respond at times. 1) Now, as an owner of this model of laptop I thought maybe I was doing something wrong, until i found two friends who had the same model and both had problems with overheating. Even though this problem is usually caused by doing more processor intensive things such as watching a full-length movie, it's not something I anticipated having to deal with on a computer marketed as an entertainment computer meaning it should be able to handle the tasks with ease. 2) Now this is a huge problem. I can't understand how a company like HP can ship a product that has screws that mysteriously fall out. I didn't even realize this one until the two halves of the bottom of my laptop were coming apart exposing everything inside my laptop. 3) As a computer designated for entertainment purposes, you would expect one of the main features being the touch pad to work quickly and all the time. Unfortunately, this is far from how it actually works, with the pad often taking long and sometimes even causing other programs to lag or to stop responding altogether. If you're thinking about investing in an HP DV4, or any laptop for that matter, you should really test things out before you buy. I learned the hard way.
