After my husband purchased me a new laptop computer I just knew that I also needed a new printer, scanner, fax machine and copier. So my husband, the sweet guy that he is, set out to buy me everything that I wanted (what can I say I'm a lucky girl). What he came back with was the HP 4 in 1 printer.
This printer acts as a traditional printer, printing about 15 pages per minute in black and white (although HP claims 20) and around 8 pages per minute in color (though HP once again claims that number to be higher). I found the printing quality to be pretty good for basic documents but a little disappointing when it comes to actual pictures. Even on quality photo paper the pictures come out a lift off.
Secondly this printer acts as a fax machine. The fax machine is absolutely awesome. Everything that you need is on the front panel of the printer. There is even an LCD screen that will walk you through the faxing process. I found this feature to be fantastic because I am a bit of a ditz when it comes to faxing.
The scanner and copier on this printer (which are basically the same process) are absolutely atrocious. This is not a flatbed scanner. The image is scanned by little hairs (the ones that read the faxes) and therefore any document that is scanned or copied shows up on your computer with fine lines. I found this to be terribly disappointing, especially when trying to scan pictures.
Overall I can't say that this is the worst printer I have ever used. It certainly is the most reliable and easiest fax machine that I have come across. But because the scanning and copying features are so bad I really can't in good conscious suggest this HP printer for anyone.
