I have been a Hunter Thompson fan for many years. This always amazes people, as my personality doesn't seem to fit with what most people would expect of his fans. A few months ago my husband bought this book for me, because I like to read Thompson before bed( it doesn't really matter if you are half asleep while reading him, he is kinda out there in a genius sort of way)
The Great Shark Hunt i not only brilliantly written, but it is funny. This book is a collection of short stories. Everytime I pick this book up to read a story I end up either laughing hysterically or shaking my head in wonder.
Some of the stories included in this collection include:
The Kentucky Derby is Decadent and Depraved
Freak Power in the Rockies
What lured Hemingway to Ketchum?
Marlon Brand and the indian fish in
and many many other fantastic, over the edge, crazy but brilliant short stories!
Anyone who enjoys Hunter Thompson or out there humor and politics, and Richard Nixon bashing should consider picking up a copy of this book.
It is fantastic... what else can I say? Many people like to comment that Thompson would find himself upset or annoyed with someone and he would basically use his writing as an excuse to attack that person, but in all fairness, some of these people probably deserved it, and if not, that is the beauty of freedom of speech.
