Hydrogen Peroxide is a great topical antiseptic. I always have a bottle on hand to disinfect cuts and scrapes.
I don't remember exactly what I paid for a 1 qt. bottle, but I know it wasn't much. It is for external use only, and I find that one bottle will last for quite some time. In fact, very often the product will expire before I use it all up. But since it is relatively inexpensive, it isn't that big of a hassle to go out and purchase another bottle.
Hydrogen peroxide should not be used on large areas of the body, should never be gotten in the eyes, or swallowed. It also should not be used on deep or puncture wounds, animal bites or bad burns.
But for your run-of-the-mill cuts, scrapes and minor abrasions, I find hydrogen peroxide to be very useful. It helps to prevent infection and to keep the affected area clean.
I think hydrogen peroxide is a very useful thing to have around the house. It is always important to prevent infection, as I found out all too well when my husband lost a toe to a serious infection. Better safe than sorry.
