No, I did not accidently forget to add a rating. This product receives a big fat 0 from me!
On a recent shopping trip to Walmart, I decided to pick up a few things for our medicine cabnet. Thinking it is better to be safe than sorry, I stocked up on things that you wouldn't miss until you needed them--bandages, antiseptics, and the like.
One of my purchases were these splinter tweezers by Revlon. At $7.26, they were not the cheepest ones available, but I thought I'd go with a name brand, since you only buy a product like this for your home once or twice in a lifetime. Boy, was I in for a surprise.
When I got home, I removed them from the packaging and gave them a squeeze. They fell apart in my hand! I hadn't even used them once!
I'm not sure if the problem was poor manufacturing, poor product design, or simply a bad batch. From a name like Revlon, I would hope it's the latter. Regardless, I'll be returning these and trying a different brand.
Update On Aug 11, 2008: As I mentioned in the comments, I contacted Revlon about these, so now I can review their customer service as well. I was instructed to return them so they could be inspected, and today, about 4 weeks later, I received a new pair free of charge. And these ones work! =) I was also told that they have a lifetime guarentee on their "beauty tools" of this nature, and will send replacements as long as it appears it was the product's fault and not the customer's. (For example, if I had let them get rusty, etc...) So there was some initial disappointment and inconvenience, but Revlon has proven themselves by standing by their product.
