My parents didn't want to buy one, claimed it cost too much and that we didn't have space in our kitchen.

However, I've found that with a lot of persistance and enough deal making, anying is possible. They now think I'm crazy though, because as a teenager it's not really normal to want something like this so much. But, I like cooking/baking. A lot.

We bought our KitchenAid at Kohls while they were having some huge sale, and we had a 30% off coupon. My mom and I split the cost, and I later learned this was because she had always wanted one.

I bought one of the artisan series mixers, because really, they were the only ones that I thought looked good. We ended up buying a metallic silver one to match our kitchen after it's been redone. The artisan series comes in 25 colors, and originally the color I had wanted was a lime green one, but my parents said that was out of the question.

It has 10 speeds, and so far I haven't really found a use for all of them. It also came with three different mixing heads, a whisk like one, a normal mixing one, and a dough hook. The only one I've used so far is the normal mixing one. There's a switch on the side to either keep the head locked in place or allow you to tilt it back. The pouring shield it came with is also extremely useful.

Even though the instructions say that everything can go in the dishwasher, I hand wash mine. I am being really careful with my new gadget, and I also don't like waiting around for the dishwasher to be done. It's not like I have anything better to do when the cake's baking.

I love, love, love mine, and I'm sure it's not a purchase you would regret!
