Was I surprised this past Mother's Day to receive the smallest, coolest and most beautiful plum colored Nikon Coolpix S230 digital camera from my dear hubby. With taking pictures for online ventures he knew I wanted something I could take with me in my purse so I would always have it handy. I had given my old Kodak to my brother and had been using my husband's Olympus which took beautiful pictures as you can see from the pictures for this review, but it was just too big for my taste.
This coolpix fits into any size purse I have and it's always with me which is just what I wanted. It's very user friendly which I learned first hand when someone had given me theirs at a wedding shower to take a picture of them. I was so impressed I guess I must have talked about it a lot for my husband to remember!!
**3X Optical Zoom-NIKKOR Glass Lens
**EXPEED Image Processor
**4-Way VR Image Stabilization
**3.0 inch High Resolution Touch Panel LCD
**Scene Auto Selector
**Smart Portrait System (smile mode, blink proof, red-eye fix and face-priority AF)
**My Coolpix also came with a battery charger, Li-ion rechargeable battery, AC Adapter, USB Cable and Audio/Video cable, a stylus, camera strap and a Coolpix software suite cd-rom.
As I mentioned, this is just the smallest digital camera that I have ever owned but there are probably smaller one's out there. The overall size is 3-1/2 inches wide by 2.2 inches high and only 0.8 inches in depth.
I have been using this digital camera for all of my shared review pictures for almost 5 months now and I am very pleased with how I can quickly turn it on and just point and shoot. The colors are exactly as you see them and the ability to focus in to very closeup detail or writing on a product is now a breeze.
I can can shoot in frame movie mode for fun short clips to send friends, family or post on facebook. I find I can shoot in bright daylight, on cloudy days or use my built in flash if needed for beautiful pictures every time. Downloading pictures to my computer is quick and easy and the only formatting I ever feel the need to do is to rotate the picture.
My favorite feature is the large 3 inch touch panel in back of the camera to view my pictures. Check out the picture I took with the Coolpix turned on and sitting in front of the neat little case I found for it with my first name initial. I didn't realize you could see the case in the touch panel until I had downloaded the pictures. I especially like using the stylus for quick and easy touching of all the commands, no messy fingerprints all over the screen!!
I think you get my point that I really like this digital camera and it definitely gets my vote of approval.
