I like my IBM ThinkPad, there are things that could be better but it's a standard problem with all laptops. Overall I don't think you'd find one that out-preforms this laptop as it is a workhorse.
The good things about this laptop is it's weight, it isn't very heavy; just a few pounds. It does have a cd-rom/dvd player built into it and comes with plenty of USB ports for all sorts of add-ons. The memory is very good on it; no need to upgrade at all.
What could be better, and is rather typical of laptops; the mousepad is VERY touchy. I deactiate the mousepad whenever I can and attach a regular mouse to it. It's rather aggravating when I am typing and the cursor ends up moving somewhere else because I may have brushed close to the mousepad. I've seen people even tape covers over the mousepad as it's a standard problem. Other than that issue, I don't have a problem with the laptop at all!
Another issue that is standard with this particular laptop is the fan, it does have a tendancy to go back rather quickly but IBM has recalled them and has tried very hard to be proactive to solve the issue. The battery does need to be recharged often but again that is a problem with many laptops.
