Although I have never owned one being a fairly active ham radio operator I have had the chance to use the Icom-735 radio's on many occasions. First let me say I would dearly love to have one in my station here at home but never really got around to buying one new years ago while they were still in production or on the used market over the years. This radio has a very solid reputation for reliability and being well made overall. The transmit audio on them is quite good and I love the pass band tuning which helps isolate the station you are trying to listen to from other unwanted stations or interference. The receiver is a real pleasure to listen to. I should add that the transmit section has what they call a squirrel cage fan to protect it from too much heat. The transmitter's power is rated at 100 watts and the power is variable via a control. The Icom company did a nice job with this radio and sold quite a few of these. Well worth considering if one becomes available in nice shape on the used market.
