Barley, one of Gund's irresistable teddy bears is on his way to my daughter. It all began a few weeks ago when she called and asked if I could make her a tutu as she wanted to wear a Belle costume for her run in Disney's Tower of Terror marathon on the 24th of October.
Why is it kids think mom can do anything?
I made a sample tutu to send down to her but wanted to put it on a doll or teddy to surprise her and make it stand out. After searching several stores I found Barley and I knew I had found the perfect model for the tutu.
Barley is made by Gund or as the tags all say, Gotta Getta Gund, a plush animal line I was very familiar with for making some of the nicest teddy bears I've bought over the years. Barley just screamed "buy me" as if his sale price wasn't an added bonus.
Barley is an impressive 17" tall and made of the softest two tone shaggy fur in a light tan with highlights making it almost look like a light salmon color. He sports a cream colored muzzle and two of the nicest two tone brown eyes which give him a lovable look. His nose is made of a black suede and he has a lovely plaid ribbon bow around his neck which matched the colors of the tutu perfectly.
Barley has a big soft tummy for hugging and big paws which are a little lighter in color. What makes him special is that he has beans in his bottom and at the end of his four paws which make Barley perfect for posing and sitting.
His fur is surface washable and he weighs in at a whopping 1-1/2 lbs. I can't think of any little boy or girl that wouldn't love this soft and huggable bear from Gund. My daughter's not little any more but I can see her hugging it just the same!!
Oh, and I keep referring to Barley as a "he", an impression I get from the name. Hope it's OK for him to wear a tutu!
