Before my brother moved my mother out of assisted living, I had decorated her room with beautiful reds and whites. Her bed was a queen-sized, and I chose what appeared to be a lovely 3-Piece Comforter Set from Walmart. It gave the appearance of almost a solid red, even though there were light red vertical stripes on the comforter. It also came with two matching shams.
I have bought comforters before at Walmart, and they were wonderful, but this one disappointed from the get-go. (It was from a different manufacturer than the previous comforters, that I had bought there.) When I took it out of the package, I immediately noticed that it looked very wrinkled. Hoping that the wrinkles would fall out, I smoothed them out the best I could, and hoped for the best. The comforter was very attractive, and we were pressed for time. It had down-alternative fill, and was hypoallergenic.
After my mother moved out of the assisted living, my husband and I got the comforter, as it did not fit her bed at home. When we washed it, it looked like it was a 100 years old. It was horrible looking! It was made from 100% Cotton Sateen, so that probably was the problem. At any rate, it was so bad that we couldn't use it. I no longer had the receipt, and decided that I didn't want another one like it, so I just completely lost out on this purchase. They might have given us store credit, and we should have pursued that, but we waited too long. (I guess we'll use it for picnics.)
So don't be fooled--if you see these comforters, run away fast. Save your money for something of better quality.
