My wife and I bought this train table for our son last Christmas. He had recently begun an obsession with Thomas the Tank Engine trains, and when we recovered from the sticker shock on the Thomas products, we decided to look for something more affordable. They are only wooden tracks, after all!
Actually, I was planning on getting him some train track sets to put together, but my wife suggested a train table so it would be easier to keep the tracks from taking over all of our floors. I am so glad she suggested this- I love this table almost as much as my son does!
The whole Imaginarium set includes LOTS of pieces, so it is great for beginning collections. There are wooden tracks (that are all compatible with Thomas trains), and even some special pieces that have sound effects when trains drive over them. It comes with a train that requires batteries, a bridge, and lots of little accessories like a little gas station, helipad, train station, and stores. You can set up a whole city with just this one set. It has provided my son (ok, me too), with hours of imaginative play, and I love the quality time I get to spend with him while we play with his trains.
The table itself could maybe stand to be a little bigger, but is otherwise of great quality. I put it together in about twenty minutes. My son tends to be pretty rough with toys, but so far the table shows very little wear in the year + we have had it.
This is a great quality product, and although it is still rather expensive, the price point is much more attractive than some of the other companies out there. I would definitely recommend checking this one out.
