In the Valley of the Elah is written and directed by Peter Haggis (Crash). This movie stars Tommy Lee Jones, Charlize Theron and Susan Sarandon.

In the Valley of the Elah is the story of a couple by the name of a Hank and Joan Deerfield who find that their son has arrived home from Iraq. They get this information from an officer who informs them not only is their son home but he is missing and presumed to be AWOL meaning that he absent without leave.

Hank, a retired military officer himself, decides to go out and investigate what happened to his son. He runs into one barrier after another until he realizes he will need help. This help comes in the form of a underappreciated female detective played by Theron. Together, they team up to break through the red tape that comes not only from the military but from the police department.

This was a pretty good movie. It will leave you guessing as to what happened up until the end. The acting is very good. This movie is rated R.
