I think that most of us who have kids will agree that teething is one of the most miserable times for our little munchkins! Topical relief gels are helpful...but some times it's just not helpful enough! Infant Tylenol is another product I've used for my son and I'm sure most if not all parents are familiar with that brand name...but I found that even that somtimes wears off to quickly! So, when my son started teething and other things just didn't seem to work, I asked our pediatrician ..What now? He suggested we try Infant Motrin.

INFANT MOTRIN ACTIVE INGREDIENTS

Ibuprofen 50mg per 1.25mL

USES:(as listed on bottle)

Temporarily reduces fever, relieves minor aches and pains due to colds, flus, sore throat, headaches and tooth aches.

The box also says that Motrin Infant Drops is for ages 6 months to 23 months.

I would like to add that with ALL infant and childrens medications please be sure to ask your pediatrician, to get correct dosage amounts and verify that this product is ok for your baby!

WARNINGS LISTED

This IS ibuprofen so it can cause allergic reaction especially in those who are allergic to aspirin. There is also a warning about stomach bleeding-it says that this product contains a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) which may cause stomach bleeding...Chances are higher if the child-

-Has had stomach ulcers or bleeding problems

-Takes a blood thinning or steroid drug

-Takes other drugs containing a NSAID

-Takes more or for a longer timethan directed

DO NOT USE IF CHILD HAS HAD AN ALLERGIC REACTION TO ANY OTHER PAIN RELIEVER OR

RIGHT BEFORE OR AFTER HEART SURGERY

MY THOUGHTS/EXPERIENCE

Well there's nothing like reading all the package warnings to scare the heck out of a parent! I have to admit that i really hate giving my baby any kind of medicines! Especially after reading that stuff! However, I do find that there are times when these kinds of medications/pain relievers are necessary. Work with your pediatrician to be sure it is right for your babies needs!

When we used this our son was teething. We used the proper dosage and only 1-2 dosages in a 24 hour period. We also only used it 1-3 days out of the week... it REALLY REALLY helped! He was back to his happy, playful, drooly self with in 20 minutes. Getting him to take the liquid was easy..he's a chow hound and didn't complain or fight about the taste at all. There is also an easy to use measuring syringe included that really helps. Relief seems to last just about 8 hours. The other stuff I've tried I think we only got about 4 hours out of and then he was miserable again! I will say that I leave this Motrin as an absolute last resort but always have it on hand now. I try all the gels first! Just to be sure! We have used this after "shots" and it worked great at releaving whatever aches/fever he had from that.

This is a dye free formula so no stains!! Which is definitely a plus! So, I have to say that I really do like Infant Motrin and that if used properly it is VERY helpful to have around! We have been fortunate enough so far to NOt have any real flu, sore throat etc come our way! But we are ready if it does!

PRICES & WHERE TO GET IT

I can't remeber exactly what I paid for this. I have the 1floz bottle and i believe it was around $7.00

at Walmart. You should be able to find it at just about any store that carries infant pain relievers.
