Image for Insignia Portable Video Player 4GB

After researching for a while over the internet for a music player, this Insignia player caught my eye because of the price and the features that it boasted. Opening the box revealed a 3.7V Lithium-ion battery pack, a standard USB to mini-A cable, earbuds, a clear vinyl case (with a belt loop), a quick start guide, warranty registration card, along with some miscellaneous music/audio related coupons, a software CD containing Best Buy's music manager (Rhapsody), Arcsoft Media Converter 2 and the instruction manual in .pdf format. The face of the player is made of a glossy black plastic, with a rear and side made of rubberized plastic. Its size is about 1.25 inches by 3 inches, which is about right for slipping into your pocket. This bigger size is the price you pay for a clear and crisp 2.2 inch display. The player has 7 buttons: a power button, menu button, a select button, and a 4 way clickable wheel. The hold switch is on top of the player. The GUI is laid out nicely with a Now Playing option, a Settings option, a Recording option, a FM Radio, Photo, Video, Audible Books, and Folder Browser. These extra features are very nice, especially the FM radio which picked up a few statios that I hadn't heard of until the radio picked it up. The battery life of the player is a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. It is very easy to replace if you need to as there is just a cover you can slip off. It takes about 3 hours to charge from empty, and it plays about 20 hours of audio or 6 hours of video. The software has a very easy to use converter that converts many different types of video into the dimensions the player. The audio has WMA, MP3, OGG Vorbis, and WAV formats, as well as some others. The player also has two audio jacks, which is very convenient as one jack is suited well for pocket use while the other jack is suited well for when you are holding your player normally. The player has 2GB or 4GB models, which can be expanded even more with a microSD card. The earbuds provided with the player were decent in comparison to other earbuds that come with players, which I usually throw away on sight. All in all, this player is great for the price and for the many features it has.
