My daughter asked for the Girl Tech video Journal when she was seven years old, although I thought she was a bit young for this I bought her it anyway, as she was always taking pictures with my camera, the video journal was retailing back then for £30.00 although coming up to Christmas I managed to get the camera on offer for £25 which was a bonus.
The camera is silver and purple in colour and comes with a small purple stand, also included in the price is the software to add to your computer, adding the software is easy, it only took hubby 10 minutes, once this short process was done my daughter was able to take photos and upload them onto her journal, she could fool around with the photos, adding cartoon type pictures or making the photos lighter or darker, there were other activities on the journal such as a calendar where the photos could be added and there was also a page were my daughter could write stories.
I should add that the camera was also easy to use, all she had to do was focus the camera and press a button when she was ready to take her picture, also considering this camera is suited to 8 year old children it does take good quality photos which I was quite surprised at, when my own camera broke I borrowed this little camera from my daughter and I did take some good pictures with it.
The camera lasted my daughter for around a year and a half, after this the photos started to come out blurry, I have no idea why but no doubt my daughter has probably dropped it on more than one occassion, although the photos are no longer clear my hubby uses it as a web cam for talking to his sister in Austrailia and it works fine for that.
All in all this was £25 well spent, this camera is good for the young beginner and not to expensive, Highly recommended!!
