Build-A-Bear Workshop has sprung up in malls all over the United States (and other places too?). This is a store where children, or adults, can choose a unstuffed stuffed animal body. They have everything from bears to unicorns to dogs. Sometimes the animals available rotate with the season or probably with popularity. The plain bears are $10. They go up from there to about $25.
After you choose your bear you go to a stuffing station where a store employee helps you stuff your bear and give it a heart. You can also add a sound to your bear at this time, for an extra fee. After the stuffing, you take your bear to an area where you "fluff" it by blowing air onto it and brush its fur. Then you can choose an outfit for it. There is an unreal number of outfits and accessories available. These are not cheap. When you are done dressing your bear, you go to a computer station where you give your bear a name and create a birth certificate of sorts. When you pay for your bear, you get to take it home in a fun box that's shaped like a house and has pictures to color.
I have found it useful when taking children to Build-A-Bear to tell them ahead of time what they are allowed to spend. Otherwise it can get out of control really fast.
Build-A-Bear is a great place to spend time with the children in your life.
