Jacqueline Kent produces some of the cutest dolls and figurines I've seen. She has a gift for creating realistic characters that often remind me of someone I know.
The Fairy Godmother line is simply too sweet for words. Each hanging doll has wings and a wand and they are each unique in their features and personalities. "Love" is the one I chose, both for the name and her sweet face. She can hang above a bed, in a corner or wherever you like, or she can be placed on a shelf, if preferred. Each one is about a foot long and they are light-weight for hanging. Each comes in a gift box that includes a certificate of authenticity and a poem about that specific personality. The quality is first rate. The heads, feet and hands are made of polyresin and the clothing and accessories are recreated from original designs.
I met Jacqueline Kent at a store where she was promoting her line. She told the story as to how her creations came to be. As I recall, she had no idea she could create anything like these characters. It all started when her young son came to her at a time when she was busy. He wanted her to play and she took some children's playdough and quickly created a face on it to entertain him. He kept coming back and each time she'd do something different and then began to realize that what she was doing was quite interesting. From there, she created a line of dolls and figurines that are widely known and collected by many.
There are other Fairy Godmothers in her line, with names like "Compassion" and "Serenity" just to name a few.
The Jacqueline Kent line includes many other items such as "Town Folk" a wonderful group of assorted every day people, such as a fireman, doctor, farmer and even couples sharing their 25th and 50th anniversaries. The "Carolers" group is another favorite, each one quite different from the other and inspiring in their own way. There is a large assortment of Santa, plus Christmas and holiday items to choose from.
These items make wonderful gifts or are just fun to collect. Some have birthstones and people collect the ones that represent their family members. There are others that are comforting or just plain silly.
If you haven't seen the Jacqueline Kent line, you can find it online if your local gift shop doesn't carry it. Most stores can only carry a fraction of what is available, so I recommend that you look online to see all that is offered. There is so much to see and it's difficult to pick just one.
