This DVD set contains all the episodes of the 1990s Jeeves and Wooster comedy TV series. The series transports us to the upper class Edwardian England. Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry shine in this show as Bertie Wooster, a rich but not-so-bright young fellow, and his intelligent butler Jeeves. The two are perfectly cast. Jeeves, with his reserved manners and the position of a servant, is supposedly the #2 of the duo, but he often ends up running the show, given Wooster's proneness to mess things up. Then it's the butler's job to save the day, and he always does.
Jeeves and Wooster is one of my favorite series. It might take some getting used to, but when it draws you in you feel like a part of a family, knowing all the quirks and enjoying them. Bright, witty dialogue is interspersed with visual humor. I just have to pause, rewind and view again certain parts, like the one where Wooster hides by putting a lampshade on his head and pretending to be a lamp; Jeeves's expression when he discovers his master is priceless.
One minor complaint I have is that some actors change during the series. Once, an actor leaves and shows up again later on as a different character, adding to the confusion. However, there is not a lot of that going on, and it only happens to secondary characters. The leading ones stay the same.
